Hello and welcome to the website!

My name is Miss Massey and I am currently a Year 4 Student Teacher at Ton-Yr-Ywen Primary. I will be moving down to Reception shortly.

I have created this website as a part of the ICT Learning Curriculum "The Digital World".
Over the past few weeks, Year 4 students have been researching information about changing materials. They have used a variety of both written and digital work to learn about the fascinating world we live in. In this growing age of technology, digital literacy is a vital skill. Students need to be able to recognise quality content from the internet and to determine the accuracy of information presented.

We started off this series of lessons first with:
- how to research using keywords and symbols
- how to determine reliable information
- researching from a variety of websites
- consolidating knowledge onto these pages

Literacy skills that are addressed on this web page include:

Oracy

- explain information and ideas using supportive resources, e.g. on-screen and web-based materials

- respond, giving views on what the speaker has said (or typed on discussion posts)

Reading

- read texts, including those with few visual clues, independently with concentration

- skim to gain the gist of a text or the main idea in a chapter

- scan for specific information using a variety of features in texts, e.g. titles, illustrations, key words

- find information and ideas from web pages, using different search methods, considering which are the most efficient methods.

Writing

- gather ideas to plan writing

- explore and use appropriately the different forms of writing on-screen to interact with others, e.g. websites, e-mails, blogs

Please take a look around and enjoy the content presented. With the exception of the home page and the Miss Massey tag, everything is created by Year 4 students!

Sincerely,
Miss Massey
